Further Narrative

Location Interior

The forest itself is an interior compared the mountain range surrounding it, and the cabin will be a second interior. The camera will never make its way into the cabin so the forest opening will become the main interior for the environment.

Time

Afternoon time as the lighting gets darker and the sun is close to setting. Natural lighting from the sun through the trees is combined with fireflies that begin to emerge from the forest giving off an ethereal glow. The cabin begins to project interior light from the windows to the forest floor.

Props

The woodland floor is scattered with woodland debris such as tree stumps and branches where the elderly man has cut down the trees for resources A pile of firewood rests against the home, and an axe is left next to the cabin in a tree stump, suggesting that the work of the day is complete.

Mood

There is a soft warm glow about everything. The cabin is lit warmly by fire from the inside and smoke begins to escape lightly from the chimney top. Small forest creatures create various sounds such as the snapping of twigs and the evening tweetings of birds. The environment seems safe and inviting and has a tranquil feel about it.

Personality

The tranquil, slow feel of the environment reflects on the elderly man and his personality and movements. The peacefulness reflects on his current emotion and content with living free in the woodland. The modelling and texturing of the environment will be stylised with interesting and unique pattern and colour suggesting his creativity in his craft.

Location Exterior

The large span of mountain surrounding the forest will be the main exterior for the location, I will create long shots that will show the environment as a whole.

Dynamism

I want to go against the usual lush green colours found in forests for the design of my environment. Instead, I want to use bright orange, red and yellow tones to create something that feels warm and homely but is also shocking and bright enough to create a aesthetically good looking design of contrasting colours in the environment.

Character

The character in my scene is never shown and so I have represent him through the choices I make in the design of the environment. I want to use warm colours such as orange and brown to suggest that the man is a warm and welcoming person. Through props such as piles of cut logs I will show that the man is precise and skilled in his work and through the calm and safe atmosphere I hope to create I will depict the man's elderly and sweet nature.

Temperature

The scene will have a warm temperature shown through lots of orange and yellow tones to give off a homely glow, showing that the elderly man has found home in the outdoors. This will contrast with blue tones of the natural evening sky against the mountain backdrop and light given off by fireflies that inhabit the forest.
